The Vermont Stone Steps at Riverside Farm – Pittsfield, Vermont

Built by hand and human determination
In 2013 the Summer Peak Death Racers moved these huge stones into place during the first 48 hours of the annual event.

Come visit, and take your own excursion up the stairs at Riverside Farm, Vermont.  At the head of the stairs you’ll pass the 8′ statue of Chenoa carved by artist Barre Pinske.  Perhaps Chenoa’s spirit, or her dog Feather’s, will speak to you and encourage you on your journey.  On the way keep an eye out for wildlife, spirits, Mountain Bikers and Spartan & Peak athletes in training.  And then the world will open up to broad blue sky and vast views of the Green Mountains.  Leave a note for the next visitor at Chenoa’s stone hut at the peak.

The Green Mountain Trails – Pittsfield, Vermont

Once dubbed the best kept secret in Vermont, Green Mountain Trails is rapidly losing that title. The trail community is building it daily and they are coming. At last count twenty miles balancing flowy, buffed and bermed track with hand built uber techy gnar leading to sublime vistas. There is 1000’ feet of vertical.  It’s open 24/7, all year (except in the sensitive mud season) for mountain biking, trail running, snowshoeing and hiking. The system is scrupulously maintained by volunteers in the community. Motors are prohibited. The trails are free, but donations, through money or volunteerism, are appreciated.   Visit their web site or find them on Facebook.
