2021 COURSE DESCRIPTION FROM OUR TRAIL GURU MATT :
The course climbs somewhat steeply at first past the trailside oasis, Muddy’s Hut, and through the switchbacks of Noodles Trail before leveling out up the Rabbit Hole. The trail then snakes through some narrow, and technical at times, terrain with the premier of Yonder Trail before opening up onto a forest road midway up La Gran Aventura. The thousand-foot three-mile climb ends through a dense, dark spruce forest aptly called the Labyrinth leading to incredible panoramic Green Mountain views at Shrek’s Stone Hut at the top of the trails. The course corkscrews down Wrong Way Trail singletrack with a couple of fun descents down some brief, snowy chutes before traversing the backside of the mountain on Bubba Trail through beautiful mixed hardwood forests. Fuster’s Ravine crossing will mark the home stretch with the course opening up onto double track Riverside Run and back to the start/finish. The loop totals approximately 6.5 miles with about 1500 feet of elevation change.

Only a 2-hour drive from Burlington!
No littering! Help us keep our trails and wilderness areas clean! We will provide trash bins throughout the course.
Snow Shoes are required if there are more than 4 inches of snow. Proper trail shoes and winter spikes are acceptable depending on the conditions. Winter conditions are always unpredictable in the Green Mountains!
Headlamps required! All participants must bring a headlamp. Tree cover makes the trails become dark before sunset. Please bring a headlamp to ensure that you are safe out on the course.
Be courteous of your fellow runners! We want to have fun out there. Step aside and let runners pass if they moving faster than you. Encourage each other, we’re all in this together!
Vermont weather in February can be unpredictable. Expect deep snow conditions and cold temperature AND/OR snow-slush and sunshine/rain. Please watch the weather leading up to the race and plan accordingly.
We will have a tent set up and a cracking fire at base camp (start/finish line). You can leave bags with food, clothes, and other necessities there. Friends, family, and crew are welcome to stay at base camp to cheer you on (as long as they help us keep the fire going!)
The event is taking place at Riverside Farm. There will be Event Parking signs and a designated parking area. Please park in designated areas ONLY! We can not guarantee the safety of your car unless it is in our designated parking area!
