ABOUT THE RACE

The Death Race is the ultimate challenge, designed to present you with the unexpected and the completely insane! Nothing else on earth will challenge you like The Death Race, both mentally and physically.

Every Death Race is its own uniquely brutal challenge, no two races are alike. The race, created by Ultra athlete and Spartan Race founder Joe Desena, was developed as a way for athletes to test themselves both mentally and physically. The Death Races take place in the unexpectedly challenging terrain of the Green Mountains in and around Pittsfield, Vermont, and have lasted over 70 hours. We provide no support. We don’t tell you when it starts. We don’t tell you when it ends. We don’t tell you what it will entail. We want you to fail and encourage you to quit at any time.

TESTIMONIALS

“I recognize that I’ve been extremely fortunate in my racing “career.”
….
But at some point, we all stumble. We have a bad race. A race finds a weakness. A weakness finds you.

And of any race out there, the Death Race excels at doing this. It’s a game of Russian roulette that we play once or twice (or now three) times a year. It’s unlike any other race: for example, you do Ironmans, you know you are going to be swimming, bking and running. In that order. For a fixed amount of distance. With the Death Race, you never know what may be in store, and sometimes it may not seem like a “race” at all.

And that’s what draws it to us. And that’s how we discover things about ourselves. And that’s why we keep coming back. But that’s also what crushes us.”

RACE QUALIFICATIONS
DEATH RACE CHALLENGES +MEDIA CHALLENGES

Race challenges may begin prior to the race start. Included will be the traditional D.R. media challenge which requires various tasks to be completed, such as a public commitment to the race via your local newspaper or carrying a log for 15 miles. Once you have registered, we do this to ensure that you show up at the start. Remember that only an average of 50% of registered racers have the courage to do so. Are you up for it?

If you know what’s good for you, you will follow Peak Races on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date!

GEAR LIST

The gear list is an essential requirement for your experience at the Winter Death Race. This will assist in your success at completing the various tasks assigned by your taskmaster. If you are not fully prepared with your gear list, you will likely not be a part of the 20% who complete a Death Race.

The Death Race Gear List will be released no later than one month prior to the event. Some of your media challenges may require gear as well.
